Brent and Dori, Boulderado Hotel (Boulder, Colorado)

Last Saturday I kicked off the CO wedding season with Brent and Dori’s wedding in Boulder CO. The wedding was at the beautiful and intriquing historical Boulderado Hotel. It was my first wedding at the Boulderado and it was a photographer’s playground! Loved it! I can’t say enough great things about Brent and Dori, but I really liked working with them because they hired me to shoot in my classic Cafiero style, which is far less on the posed, traditional side, and more candid. I was able to really get into my zone because they didn’t have a gazillion requests for posed shots. As a result, we got some great images.

We started it off at the Rehearsal Dinner on Friday, the Red Fish!

This guy walking out is loaded.

Gramps concentrating very hard, this one’s a keeper!

Getting “done-up” at the salon…

No, the flower girl did not share with me.

While the Flower Girl ate cookies, the Ring Bearer preferred a good single malt. I get the feeling that this guy is one of those angry, violent drunks. Best to leave him be.

The guys had a nice Single Malt Scotch at 5:00, before the ceremony.

One of my new favorite shots of all time. Hand-held, 1/5th of a second, 15mm fisheye from the upper level. Let me tell you what I love about this. First, I love the motion. I love the server, a blur in white (just left of lower center), the guests at the bar, and the table on the left, groomsman, a blur, shaking hands with one of the ushers. Finally, I love that you can see the little red box, a hand made gift to the groom, by his father, which they put their wedding rings in before the ceremony.

Here’s the groom’s dad, nicest guy ever. He was telling me about the killer day of powder skiing he had that Wed (I was in AZ, had no idea A-Basin was getting hammered!)

Brent is a Boulder Firefighter, which is really cool. I hear it’s really hard to get on with the Fire Depts here in Denver/Boulder.

Hands! Signing the marriage license

Brent and Dori, on our way out to get some nice shots on Pearl St. These elevators at the Boulderado are so cool! The Boulderado is a historical landmark. It was built in 1909 and well preserved. Even has the original elevator with the door that you pull shut and the manual start and stop control. Very cool.

Ceiling Fans.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I have a strange fascination with ceiling fans. I LOVE THEM. So why don’t I marry them? Well, because that would hurt Jenny’s feelings and she might be a little offended, too. I don’t want to marry ceiling fans. I just like looking at them. I have ADD, so of course I like looking at ceiling fans. It’s also why I am still typing about ceiling fans. I just ordered this one and it will be here around May 7. I CAN NOT WAIT. It is going in my office at the studio!
Check out this fine piece…

OK, back to the wonderful wedding! (sorry)

I don’t know the name of this breed, but the owner says they are from Afghanistan. I was scared. Newlyweds in the background. (Jenny had a great idea today, that we should buy a wig for Gary on Halloween so that he can go as an Afghan - best idea I have heard all day)
