HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
Wow, I can’t believe I am EARLY for a Mother’s Day post. I am just so dang excited about it I guess!
I am actually leaving for Southern CA tomorrow (Thurs) and won’t be back until Sunday, so I though I better get on this. I will be in AZ the weekend after, AZ again the weekend after that, NJ the weekend after that, KS, the weekend after that. Calgon, take me away!
Anyway, let me just tell you a little bit about Linda Young… MY MOM.
*Her favorite restaurant is PF Changgs, even though the Kung Pow Chicken tastes just like the Changs Spicy Shrimp, which just happens to taste like the Hunan Beef, which also tastes remarkably like the Sesame Chicken… etc.
*She has Siliac Disease which means she can only eat things that are GLUTEN free. And she will send back her eggs if they are even the slightest bit runny.
*She is a Second Grade Teacher (see below)
*She enjoys popcorn, wine, and Bonko, or is it Blinko? She also loves that funny pudding that has rice in it, and invented the “Cheese Crisp”.
*Her favorite movie is “She’s Got Mail”
*She has a furry dog named Baxter.
*Because she is a teacher, it is not uncommon to find a pencil behind her ear, or a pin on her shirt.
*She is married to Steve (see below) who I think is cool because he’s a recovering ski bum!
*She watches Jay Leno, even though Conan O’Brian is much more funny.
*Her driving is slightly erratic, although I have survived a few good road trips with her.
*She is one of the hardest working women I have ever met.
*She did one heck of a job raising 2-3 (depending on the year) kids on her own. Yep, I am one of them!
*When I would get sick, my mom used to surprise me with a Twinkie or a Suzie Q. I loved that!
*My mom used to write the nicest notes on my lunch napkins when I was in Elementary School.
*She rarely missed any of my wrestling matches, football games, bike races, or track meets.
* She says a prayer whenever she sees an Ambulance en route. I think that’s really neat.
*Even though I always wanted a mullet when I was younger, she would not let me. I thank her for that now.
*She’s strong, independant, a very hard worker, super caring, and has the best sense of humor in the world
Here’s to my Mom on Mother’s Day! I love you!
Last week my mom got recognized for 25 years of teaching. So I put on some slacks and a tie (I never do that, only for my mom!) and drove down to Colorado Springs.
She was awarded with this pretty bowl! It’s more than just a bowl though. I am sure to my mom it represents 25 years of a whole lotta LOTTA!

And here she is with Steve! I like that Steve. He’s a simple guy like myself. OK maybe I am not simple. But he loves to ski and is extremely patient (a requirement for marrying my mom!), and to that I say, AMEN.

I got my mom a card and on the envelope I wrote “CONGRATIONS!!!”. Too bad this teacher of 25 years has a 30 year old son who can’t spell!
Before I go, I need to acknowledge two new MOMs in my family!
Gina is my older sister, mom to Jay and Luke. Oh man if you knew Gina in her Teens. Just picture her wild hair with tons of hairspray, smoked cigarettes, skipped school, ran away from home, stole my dads car and wrecked it before she even had a drivers license, I can go on…. And now I can honestly say, without any hesitation at all, that my older sister, Gina is the most remarkable, caring, disciplined, PERFECT mother. I am sure she will not admit to that (or the other stuff from her teens), but it’s all true.
Here’s Gina, last season I put her to work, even though she was pregnant!
Katherine, my younger sister is a mom x1! She just had her first baby girl, Masie a month or two ago. I know that Katherine is going to be one of the coolest moms in Kansas. I have all sorts of embarrassing info on Katherine, too. Now she’s married to Eric, who owns a Carrabbas! Mmmmm!

H A P P Y M O T H E R S D A Y!!!

A child with a mullet is known as child abuse. Your mom is a sage woman Mr. C.

I’m pretty sure it’s Bunko. Jen Struck plays it.
