Blog Soup… Eeeat, EEEEAT! YOU TOO SKEEENY!

Blog soup. I am just going to toss in a lot of random blog stuff in a single post. I’m nervous. I hope this is accepted by my blog audience. I hope I don’t ignite some sort of blog riot.

So here goes… in no particular order:

As you know last weekend I was on the East Coast, shooting a wedding with my good friend Jim on the Jersey Shore. This is not MY wedding on the Jersey shore… mine is coming later this year. This was Jim’s. Coincidentally we both have Italy weddings to look forward to, as of last week for both of us. Anyway, we putzed around Philly for a full day. I loved seeing all the historical landmarks in Philedelphia, but photographing other people, photographing…. is a favorite past time of mine. Here a little girl photographs something. I would love to see all of her photos, wouldn’t you???

Some Asian tourists. I love Asians because (without making too harsh of a generalization), they seem very passionate about photography. Their style is interesting, like this guy taking a photo of his pal. That’s a solid stance if I have ever seen one!

OK, rewind one day. The wedding. Second shooting is like “catch-and-release” fishing. Like I would know - I hate fishing. But it’s a good analogy. Second shooting is a lot of fun because Jim was the guy who had to do all the talking and organizing, etc. All I had to do is what I love. Photograph! But it’s kind of an unwritten law that you should not use 2nd shooter images for your portfolio. You release (catch and RELEASE) the images to the main shooter. I like that rule, but I got a few really cool shots and asked Jim if he would mind if I blog just a few. So here are a few I liked.

A sillowet (that’s the correct spelling, right?) :) of the bride and groom in the tall grass.

Here’s a shot of the Bride and Groom on the dock. I saw this seagull perch like he was about to take off right in front of the couple. I followed the bird with my camera and shot along the way as he passed the couple. I love the shot, but it would have been SUPER cool if the couple were making out or something.

OK, this is a photo by Jim. I pride myself in the way I blend in at a wedding. If you look REALLY hard, MAYBE you can find me. Ha! This makes me laugh. What a creepy photographer I am!

And now a shot I took of Jim… The bubbles are always fun. There was a bubble gun being fired behind Jim. Most photographers would be distracted by the bubbles, and their images would come out all blurry. But not Jim. Those bubbles don’t even phase him.

Oh yeah on Monday we went to this really cool pub in Philly. It’s the oldest tavern in Philly! I had a shepards pie. I have never ordered one of those before. It really doesn’t sound appetizing. Shepard’s Pie? GROSS. But I decided to give it a try and it was delish. It’s not like your typical pie though. Nothing sweet about it. This pie was meaty and mashed potato-y.

Back at home, Rob had a big ol photoshoot going on. Rob’s studio is literally across a little hall from mine. Usually he photographs women in bikinis, but for the past 4 weeks he was up to his neck, shooting for a catalog. It’s finally over, but tomorrow he’s shooting a catalog for Calloway Golf.

WHAT A MESS!

Here’s Rob and some set designers / art director types.

I’ll say it again: WHAT A MESS! A real pig stye

I needed a shot of my goal books for an article I just wrote for Rangefinder Magazine, so I decided I would mooch off Rob’s set-up. Well Jason, another photographer had to toot as I was trying to work. That’s me, shooting and trying not to breathe. DISGUSTING JASON!

Here is the shot. These are my old goalbooks. Each book represents two weeks of setting goals. I do it every morning (except weekends).
