GIOS MIO (Take II), etc.

Well it’s been a rollercoaster ride since I posted GIOS MIO.

So I gets to the bank to wire money to Turin Italy for the frame and was taken aback from the exchange rate. It was HARSH. Far worse than I expected. I backed out.

I felt like a real chump and a half as I emailed Mr. Alfredo Gios to tell him, “thanks, but no thanks”.

Well three days later I get an email from Alfredo Gios, sounding slightly irritated in his email, and rightly so, I should have done my exchange rate research ahead of time. But I can not say enough nice things about the guy. I’m not going to tell the specifics, but we’ll just say he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

THANKS ALFREDO! ITS ON!!! The frame will be on it’s way very soon! I plan on decking it out all Italian components: Mavic wheels, Vittoria tires, Campagnolo Record Pista Crank, Selle Italia Saddle, etc…. I am so excited, will be a fun project. I was thinking about hitting it up with all vintage parts, but I want to ride this thing. I hope I can fit some cross tires on her. I couldn’t on my Bowery.

RSS - anyone know how to set it up? I sure don’t.

Jenny and I are on a romantic work retreat. Stay tuned for photos from my favorite place in the WORLD: Beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado, amidst the Collegiate Peaks, a huge range of spectaclar 14,000 foot peaks! We are getting so much work done - it helps NOT having an internet connection! (I rode my bike to a cafe with Wi-Fi so that I could blog Ingrid and Jeff’s wedding. :)

NEXT WEEK, Terence and I are headed off on our annual 14′er Summit. We’re going to try to bag two 14,000′ peaks in one short three-day trip. Wish us luck. We hope to be watching the firework show from Salida, comfortable from our camp site at the base of Mt. Shavano. I need to find my batt charger for my G7 so I can blog the heck out of it.

OK, Jenny is waiting for me for BBQ! Bye!
