BIKE TO WORK DAY / Tour de France Preview

TODAY IS BIKE TO WORK DAY, DENVER PEEPS! I hope everyone stopped making excuses about why it’s impossible to ride to work today. The weather is perfect. I think every day should be bike to work day!

The Tour de France is right around the corner. Lance is done, and Ivan Basso, my Italian favorite is out for 2 years for juicing up, my Italian pick is going to be Matteo Tosatto, although I am pretty sure he won’t be a contender for the win:

Floyd Landis is an American with a chance, I suppose. He’s a strong sprinter and climber which counts when it’s time to win the Tour. Although, he too has been suspected for “doping”. We’ll see.

Overall, I don’t think there are any clear contenders this year so it will be fun to see who leads the way.

About 4 years ago some American cyclists, including Greg LeMond, Andy Hampsten, and Bob Roll (who is the commentator on OLN (he’s a big fat guy now - ha) sat on stage at the Boulder Theater and it was fun to hear them all speak of their stories from the TDF casually. They were basically having a great time reminiscing, while an audience sat and listened. It was really cool. Then a few months later, Andy Hampsten, who lived in Boulder at the time gave a promotional presentation to talk up his French cycling tours that are more about eating great food and drinking lots of wine, than they are about cycling. I thought that sounded like fun. Anyway, there’s my blog post for the day.

I have what may be one of the FEW reasons not to bike to work that IS viable- I live SO close to work (less than 50 yards), that it would take me longer to hop up onto my bike than it does for me to walk over… Still, a hearty “Cheers!” to all those that participated!

I was getting pretty edgy reading this. If I say I’m disagreeing with your post I would say nothing. Reading this is meaningless waste of time.
