Jazz Hands, Commando Diet

Just got back from a really great wedding. Photos coming!

Lately I have been working on my jazz hands. You know, when you put on a big ol smile, extend your arms and shake your hands? I have been doing it for Jenny in public places, like restaurants and such. I think once a server arrived to our table while I was doing Jazz hands for Jenny and she was embarrassed. She says it makes her nervous, which I don’t get because i have a huge smile while I do it. I must be doing something wrong. I stole this video from my friend Dan, but if you are unfamiliar, this talented performer does Jazz hands just about perfectly. (it’s towards the end)

So anyway, I have been inspired by my friend Jim Kennedy’s son, who just went through the Navy Seal “Hell Week”. You know you are a stud when you can say you’re a Navy Seal. I’ll never be able to say that I am a Navy Seal, but I can start eating better, and work out better and get into better shape! I know exactly what it takes. Crazy amounts of self discipline, the ability to work out HARD to where it HURTS. No reading US magazine while pedalling an exersize bike! And you have to be a health FREAK. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

Cardiovaularly I am in good shape and I’m not a weenie. Most people would not call me fat, either, but I feel uncomfortable and heavy sometimes and that affects my work, sometimes it makes me grouchy. I remember when I was 20 pounds lighter. I felt springy, and energetic ALL THE TIME. It was awesome. I want to get there again.

So here’s the deal. I decided today that I am going to do this extreme style. Tomorrow I’m buying a voice recorder. I have wanted one for work, because I always think of great ideas when no pen is handy. Now I have another reason. Every time I eat something, I’m going to voice record it, like, “1.5 ounces of almonds, one peach”. If there are people around I will probably do it when I leave, like a restaurant or something, because I don’t want be “THAT GUY”.

Then at the end of the day, when I’d doing my blog, I am going to sign off with everything I ate, excersize and pounds lost to date. I understand that no one really cares what I am eating, but I feel that if I write THIS right now, and make all this public, it will give me one less reason to fall off track, I don’t want my peeps to think I’m a failure. So I am going to do this every day for the next 12 weeks, whether you like it or not. Wew, this is a big commitment! My goal will be to lose 20 pounds in 12 weeks. That’s less than 2 pounds a week. I can do that!

I also took a “before” photo, I’m not gonna show it! Sundays will continue to be my splurge day (I have been doing this, but only half-hearted since ski season ended)

So here goes: today
AM Mozzerella omelette
diet soda, 4.5 oz almonds
small bag 1.5 oz craisins
bag of corn nuts (I didnt know I’d be doing this, so I didn’t make note of what size bag)
large nonfat iced latte
3 peaches
salmon
tiny bit of rice
a few greenbeans

exersize: Rode my new GIOS to Common Ground in Downtown Denver and back, approx 11-14 miles round trip (not enough). About an hour of riding.

0 lbs lost. It’s my first day, gimme a break!

Hey that was easy! I can do this!

If you are making your peeps read about every tiny bit of food you eat (i.e. tiny bit of rice), then its only fair that you post your “before” photo. Do you want our support, or what?

  2. Katherine Says:

And if you’re doing jazz hands in public, you already are “THAT Guy”!

To be fair, maddgame gave me that video first, although it’s been around awhile. Way to give credit, though!

Jazz hands are growing on me, I guess :) They don’t make me nervous, they just creep me out a little. Jazz hands and all - you are wonderful and GOREjuss, and you have all my support through the extreme diet! xoxo
