Salvagetti Bike Shop, Commuting!
I gotta give props to the only bike shop in Denver that I will ever visit. Cory Grunk, the guy who designed this very blog for me is a bike enthusiest and tipped me to stop by Salvagetti. Hey, it sounds Italian, of course I am going to visit.
I have bought one bike from them and they helped me build my current dream-bike-come-true, my precious Gios! Today I was in Boulder and I decided to stick to my recent fascination with my minimalist lifestyle and ride to the bus stop and bus it to Boulder and back. I found three guys kneeling down and checking out my new ride as I came back to unlock it. That felt great because for years I have been out there admiring some of the clean builds out there.
Riding the bus was great! Boulder is about a 35 - 40 m. drive from Denver. Invariably, I dodge bullets trying to get from I-25 to hwy 36 (freaky drivers in denver). Then on 36 who knows what traffic will be like. I really, REALLY hate driving. I love my car, HATE driving.
So instead, I chilled out on this bus, plenty of leg room, bike on the rack in the front of the bus, comfortably eating a banana and some almonds, responding to email on my blackberry, even a little power nap! Upon my arrival I simply grabbed my bike and headed off to my meeting. I had a GREAT meeting with the Sales and Marketing director for one of the venues that I photographed at recently. Thanks Beverly and Joy, for the great lunch and the gift bag, Jenny and I love our goodies!
The ride back into denver was just as great. I love the bus! It was nice and clean, too!
But anyway, back to Salvagetti… Danny, Greg, and Scott are the three main dudes behind the shop. They love bikes and they put so much dang pride into their work. They have done an amazing job of creating a really warm and welcoming environment. They even invited me to see some Roller Derby last time I was in. I couldn’t go, but I thought that was cool. They have a great shop dog, too - which buys me a few extra minutes in the shop if Jenny comes along.
So for all of my Denver peeps, I know you are dying to start riding your bikes more. If they have flats, dirty chains, or WHATEVER it is that’s keeping you from going out and riding, bring your bikes to Salvagetti, they will take great care of you. You DO want to start riding your bikes, right? Try riding to work, you will get addicted!
I screwed up my headset today so I will be visiting you tomorrow!
CHECK OUT MY FIT DAY! (it was almost perfect (not enough protien).
Also be sure to check out my fitday on Sunday. I will be doing the opposite and stuffing myface. I am hoping for a STARK contrast to the other 6 days of the week! I love splurge day! 6 days on and one day off is a great program. I really work to earn my legitimate splurge day.
