Blake and Elizabeth: Aspen Wedding
Last weekend I had the honor of shooting an amazing wedding with an amazing couple. Their story is very cool, too. Elizabeth is an architect, and Blake is a builder! How cool is that? More importantly, these two are totally fun, extremely nice, and were so great to work with.
I have to give major props to Ellen and Elizabeth (not the bride) at EKS Events for doing a superb job. You will see that she had quite the responsibility coordinating such an elaborate event. She also made sure I had some good eats to go home with after the band ate my prime rib vendor meal! ha. Thanks Ellen! This is my second time working with Ellen and Elizabeth, and I hope to work with them again!
Enough jibba-jabba - meet the couple! We had some very pretty backlight after the ceremony.

Let’s rewind to the start of the day… I met Elizabeth at Te Zaal, a salon out in Basalt. Second time I have been to this salon. It’s very cool.

Jack, the ring-bearer got some new highlights.

OK I know I said “enough of the dog, but Elizabeth really loves her dog.

This was a Jewish wedding like I’ve never seen before. The priest seems to be meditating here before the ceremony. I got lucky with this one. The breeze kicked up a quick gust!

People often ask me what my favorite part of the wedding is. Maybe to your surprise, my favorite time to shoot is while people are sitting down in anticipation for the wedding. I love to just stroll around with my camera pressed to my face, and just scan the guests as they are sitting, making small talk, laughing, etc. Some of my best portraits come during the seating and the cocktail hour!
Hey look who I found, Mrs. Jody Hecht! I shot her daughter Aimee (Aimee and Peter’s) wedding, also in Aspen not too long ago. She also referred Sally (Blake’s Mom) to me, so thanks Jody!! One of the nicest women ever!!! That’s Peter to the left, and that’s Aimee’s… ear. ![]()

Don’t know this fella but he looks affable.

A song for the guests in memory. This priest had the most amazing voice to compliment a truly great sense of humor. I was totally entertained throughout the entire ceremony!

I always love a good silouette!

Horses right outside the ceremony. Love it!

Time for an AMAZING celebration!

Look at this old barn. I didn’t see any chickens running around.
The wedding was held at the beautiful Chaparral Aspen. They took a HUGE barn, and transformed it into an uber-modern reception palace!

Father of the Bride, a totally nice and funny guy!

It didn’t take long before the dance floor was full! This poor guy had no fun at all!

…and this guy wanted to knock me out!

Blake’s dad actually got up on stage and provided an intense jam session for a solid hour!

Thanks Blake, Elizabeth! I know you are both probably yodeling on the Matterhorn right now (they headed out to Switzerland for their honeymoon - very cool)… but I can’t wait to show you the rest of your wedding photos. Thanks so much for having me!
