Share the Road!

I got a “Become a Peep” request by a guy from www.bicyclecolo.org

Curious, I stopped by the web site and bookmarked it. It’s an organization designed to promote cycling and commuting in Colorado!

I have always said that I would be fine if gas prices soared to $10 a gallon. Maybe that would force more people to stop making excuses on why they can’t commute more on their bikes! It’s my own opinion, but I think that more people on bikes would mean that people would be happier and healthier, crime could drop, the air would be cleaner, maybe we could even get out of the top ten fattest countries in the world list.

But whatever. If people insist on driving down the road to Blockbuster to pick up their movie and candy, that’s fine, just don’t run me off the road when I am trying to do myself some good and enjoy a late afternoon bike ride! (late afternoon and early early morning = my favorite time to ride!).

I saw this campaign… I immediately forked out a mere $25 for one of these license plates. I get mine in January! I think, that even if you are not really a cyclist, it would be a good thing to order one of these plates. The sales on this go to making Colorado Roads safer for cyclists. It might even make sharing the roads for motorists more enjoyable, too… say, if there were more bike lanes.

Here are some more tips to make the roads safter: How to Share the Road! (scroll down a bit)

And here are some nice “exuse busters” for non commuters, also from the site. See? No more excuses.

I plan on commuting all winter long. I get a nice 50% patagonia discount through my Ski Patrol job, and will be ordering some cold weather riding gear this week. And some of THESE for my new CROSSCHECK!

HAPPY THURSDAY!

My Texas license plate looks very similar. Except, awesomely, it says “Share the Road Y’all.”

    Y’all!

    See here.

I didn’t hesitate long once I heard that was available.

Colorado is the thinnest state, did you know that? I hate bicyclists in the road, I think they should ’share the path’ with people walking on the side of the road.

Dan you need to get a bike and experience the fresh air, the wind in your face, the excitement of the ride, and the satisfaction that you got to your destination utilizing your own god-given physical power!

Then you will appreciate cycling and cyclists, and Colorado more… or you can move to, say, Ohlahoma. I bet there are a lot of people there who don’t like living in an active society! I will give you credit though, we have hiked together and I remember you liking it.

Mark, I think I’d like to experience the excitement of hitting you and your bike with my car, as 3 others have.
