MISSON ACCOMPLISHED - 31 lbs of CHUBB - GONE!

Hey peeps, I done it!

About 11.2 weeks ago I made it public right here that I was on a mission to get my weight down from a chubby 215 to a lean and “springy” 187.

Why 187? Well many years ago I was at that weight and I was a well-oiled MACHINE. A real animal I tell ya’s! I just remember the feeling of satisfaction of looking at the scale and seeing 187 on the digital display. I remember how I felt, like I could take on any challenge. It’s the year I ran the Pikes Peak Marathon, “America’s Ultimate Challenge”. It was the best year of my life. I was skiing a lot and biking a lot, and everything was good.

Here’s a shot when I weighed 187, running the Pike’s Peak Marathon, “America’s Ultimate Challenge”. 26 miles, 8,000 vertical feet of gain and a turnaround point at elevation 14,115 feet!

So 187 became my magic number. Well today I stepped on the scale, not even on an empty stomache, after lunch actually. The scale read 184. I have surpassed my goal by 3 lbs and I have 4 days to spare.

I have lost over 2 lbs a week with a total of 31 lbs lost in 12 weeks.

I talked to Rob, the photographer for the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. As you know, I had a “before” photo. Rob will be taking my “after” photo. His instructions in an email I got from him today: “Shave your chest, and hit the fake and bake”. Ughhhhh Man I really don’t know about that.

But I am submitting these photos to Body For Life and I could win $50,000 or $20,000 if I get the “runner up” in my age group. The shave and tan will help a lot, but that’s just not my style. I prefer macho over metro. I may do it for the money. I am a slave to money!

Anyway, I just wanted to make an announcement. I am real pumped about it and I feel really great. I’m excited to tell my peeps! I am considering bike racing next season, either on the Velodrome again (for the first time since 1994) or Cyclo-Cross racing, which I have never done before. I will run the Pike’s Peak Ascent again for the first time in 4 years. It’s just the uphill (half-marathon), but I decided that the 13 miles of descent was more damaging to my knees than good. Anyway, I am looking forward to utilizing my new health.

Stay tuned for my “after” photo, if I have the guts to post it. I get a little shy about bearing my nipples for all the world to see… and a shaven chest? I don’t know if I will be able to or not.
