BEST OF ‘07!
These are some of my favorite shots from ‘07. I’m about to order some big ol’ honkin prints and redecorate my CO and add some to the AZ studio. I also have a “non-wedding photojournalism entry, but I’m in AZ and don’t have it handy right now. It’s the homeless guy in the rain that I photographed in June.
I figured I might as well enter them into a print competition that’s coming up as well. Here’s some of my fav’s!
Wedding Photojournalism, a Cafiero Photographers Trademark!

So if any of these win anything at all (there are a whole mess of really talented photographers out there, even though I, of course am my favorite!), I’d predict either any of the beach shots or the last two of these. That last shot is getting published in a magazine real quick (I don’t know if I’m allowed to say the name of it though, so I will wait!.
They judge heavily on actual photographic skill, rather than photoshop magic so that makes me real happy. It’s just my opinion, but I think that photoshop is a great way to take so-so photography and manipulating it (making colors ultra-saturated super duper contrasty, 3-Dish and fairytale-esque and eventually the moment captured is no longer the main element. I tighten my images with PS no doubt, but I think if you are having a PHOTOGRAPHY competition, prints should be judged on apparent photographic know-how, tonality, composition, etc.
In defense of photoshop people, i also believe that photoshop does indeed add a new element of creativity, and we should embrace that. But for print competition, I love that judges are still a little old school.
Adios!

Yeah! I hope that last one wins! My beautiful cousin’s wedding! Such a memorable day! And that is my husband to be serving out the umbrellas!
