What happens when a wedding photographer shows up to an NFL game (the series)
I know, I know it’s about time. This post has nothing to do with the superbowl… obviously.
But every year I get to fill in for the Bronco’s Cheer photographer, and Fashion Photographer extraordinariness, Rob Hawthorne. I’m always super thankful to be able to shoot the sidelines and Rob is one of the most generous guys I’ve met. Thanks again, Rob!
Without further ado, here’s what happens when a wedding photographer shows up to shoot at an NFL game….
Of course a little pre-game pep rally…

I wonder if I look like this when I’m shooting

…Or this (I think this guy has a lot on his mind)

Here’s a classic Shanahan moment.

Cutler! I like Jay a lot but I will always miss the bearded Jake.

Being more of a people photographer, I love moments on the sidelines. And because I sort of screwed myself this year (I spaced and brought a 300mm fixed, rather than my usual 400 mm fixed so I decided to spend more time shooting sideline portraits and shots of fans. It was still fun!

I love this super-stretched pano!

One of my favorite things ever is to spot fans having a great time. I LOVE this shot! I hope someday I will have a little shortie that I can bring to games with my dad and had a guys day out like these fellas!

Oh yeah, the real reason I was at this game was to cover the cheerleaders!

Mmmmm this Redskins fan showed up to the Bronco’s Chiefs game for the great food! (uh sir, you have a little… uhhh you might want to just sort of wipe your mouth…)

I feel like disgusting my peeps. Open wide, shovel that stuff into your hole! Yumm!

Ref is enjoying the game, too.

OK now I’m just going to start posting photos.

Who is this guy? It’s my friend Steve Havenar. He was also my room mate for a while, I worked with him at Eisenhowere Golf Course in High School, we went to Air Academy High School, I went to Homecoming with his wife. I love saying that. I also shot his wedding, we are all still good friends. And he’s now a proud new dad! Congrats Steve!

I like this one too, look at the drunk guy at the bottom. He is enjoying himself. All of his problems, his debt, current divorce, restraining order, and his newly diagnosed hernia… are all non-issues for the moment. Ahhhh the magic of NFL and a cold beer or two… or twelve!

Here he is with another groom of mine, Jamie, you might remember him from the very cool Iowa wedding from last year. And a couple other fools I know!

Here’s another guy in the crowd that I spotted. I recognize him from College, but I don’t remember his name. The guy in the foreground is another groom of mine!

Jason Elam… has been with the Broncos for EVER. 2nd longest SuperBowl field goal in NFL history .vs Packers… I think that’s right.

I love the end when photographers are allowed on the field! I followed Cutler for this nice last shot.

Finally on my way out I download my images in the photographer’s room.

PHEW! That was one long post! Check out next week for my American Gladiators tryout! I tried out for American Gladiators today just for the experience. It was tons of fun and we got some great shots!
HAPPY SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!!!! I’m making a great Lasagna!!!

I found your blog today via Becker’s [b] school interview. Loved this post! Amazing photos… I had a giant grin on my face as I scrolled through. I’m a Colorado native and a big Bronco fan. I’ll be back for more! Hope this years season is better than last.
