Happy President’s Day!

We’re taking the day off! I went skiing yesterday, only to be reminded how annoying it is to ski a resort on a weekend without a patrol uniform on. I have to wait in long lift lines and got caught in the mix of wreckless boarders on occasion. But I eventually managed to ski a few good laps out in the Outback.

Here’s where I’ll be skiing next month:

Engelberg, Switzerland is known for its good snow and heavy off-piste adventure skiing. Can’t wait. And I am experiencing the trip for just around $500, airfare and lodging included. Lodging courtesy of Thomas, a ski instructor who offered me his apartment via Couch Surfing Project, an online community of people just like me who want to not only find affordable places to stay, but to meet other people and experience their daily lives first hand! I will definitely be blogging this!

So back to Prez Day. Sigh. I’m thinking about our upcoming election now. I have to be honest, I am not particularly passionate about any of the candidates we’re left with. When it comes to running our country, I sometimes wish we had a younger Ross Perot. I appreciated his confidence, and I loved that he didn’t ever put on a political face, he was just Ross.

I personally have declared 2008 as my year of Lateral Thinking. So far it’s made 2008 the best year of my life and with the most promise. Maybe our country needs to think more laterally, too. Politicians never seem to change. They just do the same thing over and over; campaign and get all upset with each other, proclaim their greatness and others’ weakness. They say whatever they feel Americans want to hear, blah blah blah. I think the way they campaign should be changed (laterally!), and I think that they should not be allowed to wear suits. I think all the candidates should be put on an island for 3 months and we could watch them on TV, a cross between SURVIVOR and The Apprentice… with maybe a touch of Temptation Island. Then we know their true personalities would come out. How fun would that be. I know I’d watch every day.

I have my reasons.
