Featured Again!
I always get so excited when I see a small cardboard box on my desk from Amherst Media. They often come by surprise, and inside it holds two copies of their latest book. So my work is being featured in their newest book, Master Lighting Guide for Wedding Photographers. You can get it at Amazon.com or any bookstore.
I remember when I was first getting started in this business, I had $30 left over from my $300 start-up budget that I used to make a web site and buy an online advertisement. Imagine that, huh? So I went to the book store and looked for a book for inspiration. I found “Best of Wedding Photojournalism”. I was so inspired by the book. I made a decision right there that someday I wanted to have photos published in a book like that.
Well a few months later I photographed a wedding and submitted my book to the author. Pretty gutsy, huh? Well he ended up ripping apart my work, and I was heartbroken, but I managed to find some great quick tips in that email. I took it to heart, and kept his tips in my mind for every wedding I photographed after that. I emailed him again.
I attached more photos. He wrote back, loved the work, and the rest is history. I have always been a believer in tactful persistence. That means persistence without being a pest. Sometimes I can be a pest, but I try not to.
Anyway, just a couple years later, I had my first photos published in Wedding Photographer’s Handbook
And then Best of Professional Digital Photography
Anyway, of course I recommend them all. 
The author, Bill Hurter is a regular here at sixpeeps.com and we email back and forth on occasion, and I have only met him for a brief 30 seconds the year before last at WPPI.
