Switzerland Post II
Here are some Fine-Art shots from the town of Luzern. I lied, I don’t have an hour each day, I have to reduce that to 20 minutes as to better prioritize my time… HOWEVER…
I’m going to have a show at my studio, so if you are interested in attending, let me know. I’m purposefully leaving a out some of my favorite shots from the blog because I want the party to be more special!
I’m serving some swiss chocolates that I smuggled back.
No, no cheese. I tried the cheese and it just tasted like cheese to me but I am not an afficianado or connoisseur (or whatever they call themselves!). And I am not even a connoisseur of chocolate, but what I can tell you is that they must put some sort of addictive substance in their chocolate, because I found myself eating it 24-7 while I was there. Seriously as soon as my bar was gone, I was off to find another bar. I think that’s why I didn’t pig out at meals. Oh and the coffee was very different and I enjoyed it as well. But as for wine and cheese, give me a $5.00 bottle of wine and tell me it cost you $300 and I will feel honored and will not be able to call your bluff.
As for cheese, I do like the hard, salty kind.
Just yesterday I read an interesting blog post by Tim Ferris, Anti-Snob Guide to Wine. It’s a good post and made me feel better about my lack of “super-tasting”. Since we’re on the subject I have a funny story of a time that I was getting a quick bottle of wine at a snobby wine place here in Denver. This “wino” lady asked me what I wanted. I said “red”. “What KIND of red”? Anyway long story short, she sort of made fun of me in a passive aggressive sort of way and pointed me to a $30 dollar bottle of wine and said, “this wine is drinking quite well right now and is at a great price!”. Puhleese! I thought it was over priced. My dad always drank Carlo Rossi growing up. Now I see it is the cheapest wine in the liquor store. I used to sneak glasses of it and well I guess I have developed a “taste” for it.
OK what was I posting about? Oh yeah a couple fine art shots from Luzern.
Shot 1: I was drawn to this little alley in Luzern. It was cold. I was also cold I wanted to somehow transport myself into the warm glowing room on the bottom floor and have a hot chocolate next to a fire in the fireplace and read a good book. But not enough to remove myself from all the great photo opps. ![]()

This is just a telescope overlooking Lake Luzern. I love the clouds and the droplets of water on the shiny silver telescope. I think this would make a very cool Metallic Print… Maybe even a Canvas!

Finally as I depart this post, a shot of myolder sister, Gina. I stole this from my younger sister, Katherine’s blog, it was too funny.
This is the Gina that I remember fighting with - she was a real Italian-American 80’s hair-band rocker. She probably had a switch-blade in one of her pockets and that jean jacket probably smelled like cigarettes. Childhood memories of her include:
* The time she stole my dad’s Fiat Convertable. She didn’t get very far. After driving it in reverse into the back of my dad’s garage, she figured out how to put it in first and went straight into the tree just to the left of the driveway.
* The time she talked “smack” about me on the phone to her boyfriend. I retaliated with a left hook to the nose and gave her a nosebleed. She chased me into my dad’s closet where I found shelter.
* The time she cursed out the newspaper boy. I don’t remember what he did to receive her teenage verbal lashing, but I do remember hearing words that I never knew existed!
* Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. She made a GREAT PB&J (see I have nice things to say!)

NOW… she’s a great mom and has two really amazing kids. See for yourself!

Check back tomorrow for a Switzerland Post III

Those are amazing images. I feel cold and in need for hot cocoa! I bet the boogy man also wants in that room for a nice read and hot chocolate– thats why there are iron bars on the window.

Okay, I was about to be upset that you put this photo on your blog and told everyone about all the bad things I did. I noticed you neglected to tell the peeps that you were blowing your trumbone in my ear while I was trying to WOO this cute boy on the phone. I am sure he was really impressed when I had to suddenly get off the phone because my little brother gave me a bloody nose. Also, you forgot to tell the peeps about when you barfed after I put ketchup on you because you thought it was blood. But, you redeemed yourself with the PB&J…you are right…mine are the best. And my jacket probably smelled more like something else. Oh, and you need to tell the peeps that the closet is where you spent all your time…you didn’t leave, except to torment me…you slept in there, ate in there and played weird pretend games in there. But I totally don’t remember cursing at the newspaper boy. And Dad’s car…well, I didn’t run into the tree I narrowly missed it but did get stuck in the ditch. Thanks for reminding me of the good ole days. My boys will not get ANYTHING by me!!!!

At least there was one normal child in our family (me).
I’m glad the two of you turned out ok. It was looking pretty “iffy” there for a minute.

Whoa! Switzerland photos AND Gina stories?! What a great post
I love your photos babe - and I love your sisters too! Can’t wait for your Switzerland night at your studio!! Also, maybe we can have a little talk about the closet you used to live in. I knew you lived in a tent… didn’t know about the closet.
I LOVE YA!
