Monkey Tossing; What a gorgeous day!
Today started of well. REEEEEAL well.
I got up at 5 AM, did a quick email check, and found some welcome spam, a 25% off coupon for Barnes and Noble. Perfect timing, as I am planning on going there to pick up Quicken for Dummies. I just got started with Quicken and I am titillated about what it’s going to do for my personal and business finances.
Titillated is a real word, not some creepy euphemism or something.
Then I had my little goal-book session, where I check off the things that are done and prioritize the things I have to get done. I checked off some serious items that have been real monkeys on my back. That always feels good. I plan on tossing more monkeys today.

Then I made some coffee in my travel french-press, grabbed Gary, and we headed off to Mt. Sanitas, our favorite running trail in Boulder. On the way, we usually listen to Italian for Dummies, but today we decided to listen to two really fun yodeling songs on repeat. That was Gary’s idea.
We got to the trail head at about 7ish, which is later than I usually shoot for, but the sun was already above the horizon and it was BEAUTIFUL. It was already almost 60 degrees out! I ran in shorts and a t-shirt.
I had yodeling (”jodling”) in my head the whole way up and consequently my stride was fast and springy. I set a new record, an ascent time of 25 minutes. It’s not ideal, but it’s still a new time to beat. Gary and I were both panting at the top. It was a beautiful view, and we could see Denver, no problem. I’d say we enjoyed the view at the top just a little longer than usual.
Our jog down was really nice and comfortable. My knees felt good, not a single ankle roll, and it was fun to watch Gary galloping along the valley below. The scene went perfectly with the yodeling that was still stuck in my head.
Once we got back, Gary was already crashed out on the floor and Jenny and I enjoyed breakfast together, outside on the patio. I ate an orange that tasted sweet and refreshing! Then I jumped on my Fixie and headed out to Kinkos. I have some copies to make. I thought I’d also post a quick blog post. So here I am with a long, great day ahead!
I wish I had a photo from Mt. Sanitas, but I’ll bring my camera on Thurs.
Finally, I am saving my pennies and I think I might be able to afford this beauty. It’s been a long time coming, but my plans are to visit the De Rosa factory in Milan our first few days in Italy, buying THIS and riding every morning. It will be the nicest bike I have ever owned, but I have only driven to work 3 days in the past 8 months and I have stopped buying Starbucks and other things. I also managed to keep the 30 lbs of weight off all winter long that I worked so hard to lose last summer so I feel like I have earned this black beauty!

Mike, Why Quicken? If you running a business, you may want to look into Quickbooks Pro. QBP, will give you a P&L report, Sales Tax summaries and create invoices and a mini data base of clients. We been using QBP at our studio for 6 years and it is fantastic. Being a business person, you’ll quickly out grow Quicken, instead use your Quicken for family checking accounts and household finances. That’s my two cents in a world rampant with inflation.
P.S. Very sweet ride. But doesn’t it cost allot to feed the monkey?

Marc, you are right! Funny, just yesterday I got a refund on my quicken and upgraded to Quickbooks Pro for Mac. I didn’t realize that Quickbooks Pro came in a Mac version. I have been using Quickbooks for all of my payroll, but have had a big clunky computer in the office that I have been using for that!
