Test-Pilots Wanted
Hi! Sorry to all my non-photographer peeps, this blog post is more directed to photographers, but I’m sure my peeps like reading about my other company, Gander Proofing as well, right?
Anyway, recently we finished our new online proofing system. It’s kind of new. We actually created it in 2003 under the name Pro Photo Alliance. Since then we have perfected our system, gave it a new look and even a new name, Gander! No, not a male goose, silly goose! You know, take a “gander”.
This weekend the woman on the cover of our brochure was in Denver and she and her husband, Jenny and I went out for a fun night for sushi! Great seeing you Sherry and Matt!
Oh and by the way, let me tell you a little more about how we redesigned Gander:
1. I wanted something simple. I think other programs out there require customers (your event guests) to have to jump through too many hopes to place and order (not to mention to even see the images in the first place!). So we stripped it down and went “back to basics”. No options for sloppy borders, zooming, yada yada yada. It’s more like, OK you want to purchase a photo? Pick the one you want, choose a size, add to cart. Done.
2. I wanted to be able to sell my digital files. I already offer photo CD’s to my wedding clients, so why not offer the same to event guests? It only makes sense.
3. I wanted it to look clean and classy.
4. I wanted it to be affordable for photographers. I think our budgets as photographers need to be prioritized higher on other things.
5. I wanted this system to be backed by “lateral thinking” and “workflow automation” (there it is again!)

Especially now that I can sell my digital files online, as well as photo CD’s, and even big canvas prints, etc… I also love that now I can upload my own proofs and handle my own fulfillment.
Before we totally go gung-ho in our marketing, we want to perfect it even more and try to make it more marketable to the general photography market (vs. a system that only I love!).
