Salutations from Scottsdale!!! (potpurri post)
Tempe, actually! I’m catching up on email before I head to crash out. I’m here in AZ to shoot a wedding on Sat at the WIGWAM resort. I can’t wait, I have never photographed at the Wigwam.
Today was great, too. I photographed some engagement photos, too which I will post tomorrow. Wedding season is here again, so get ready for lots of fun wedding photos coming up. This wedding on Sat will be cool, then it’s followed by two back-to-back weddings in Italy. I have no idea how that happened. Then it’s a wedding at Red Rocks here in CO, then a wedding in St. Louis, and followed by a gazillion weddings in Denver, Boulder, Aspen, Iowa, Mt. Princeton, more in AZ, yada yada yada! Looking to be a packed wedding season.
I want to give a special shout to Jamie Spittler, who responded to my desperate cry for help in the post, “BBQ like a Mexican”, where I yearned to be accepted in that tight-knit culture of BBQers, chip eaters, beer drinkers, family hanger-outer-withers (?), etc. I expressed a desire to get some vacation-sounding music so that I can find the inner “dude” within (a’ la Big Lebowski).
So Jamie responded urgently and burned me a disk of the Aggrolites. It’s totally dude and I love it. Thanks, Jamie! I highly recommend the Aggrolites. I will listen to them whenever I get freaked out about whatever daily freaks are bestowed upon me.
I am using words I don’t usually use in this post so excuse me if this post makes no sense!
Finally, to end this random post, I had a really fun ride home from work the other day. I was on my 80th GIOS track bike that I bought straight from Alfredo Gios himself from Turino Italy last year. I hear a voice from behind me, “A GIOS!!!”. I looked back and it was this guy I have never seen before. He was obviously a messenger from Downtown. We chatted for a while and he invited me to race in these alley cat races they hold (from Cycle Jerks). He said he had never seen a Gios track bike, just road bikes.
I really envy those messengers, kind of like how Peter-man envies Lawrence. They have a great job and an interesting lifestyle. I asked him if he knew Rich from MileHighMess and of course he did. Everyone knows Rich. The guy I met was named Fry. Anyway, I really like meeting these messengers. They are all such nice guys and love to chat, even with a lame-o poser like myself.
Tomorrow morning I am running my new favorite AZ trail. Used to be South Mountain. Now it’s Camelback, which is remarkably to my regular Mt. Sanitas trail in Boulder. A great way to hork up your esophagus!
